🔹 Indications for Use

1. Post-Exposure Prophylaxis:

For patients not adequately vaccinated or with unknown immunization status

Individuals with antibody production deficiencies

Patients with deep, contaminated wounds or foreign body injuries

Recommended immediately following tetanus-prone injuries, including:

Infected wounds

Burns

Tissue necrosis

Septic abortions

Animal bites or stings

Gunshot wounds

Therapy of Clinically Manifest Tetanus:

Used in combination with active tetanus vaccine and clinical management

For severe or active cases of tetanus infection

💉 Dosage & Administration

Standard Dose: 250 IU intramuscularly (IM)

Increased Dose (500 IU): In cases where:

Wound treatment is delayed >24 hours

The wound is deep, severely contaminated, or contains foreign objects

Patient is immunocompromised or vaccine administration is contraindicated

Children & Adults: Same dosage guidelines apply

For Tetanus Therapy: Higher single doses between 3,000 IU – 6,000 IU may be administered per clinical discretion

👉 Always administer with Tetanus Vaccine (0.5 mL) at opposite site of the body, unless contraindicated.
